Privacy Policy

TeleprompterLab is built to be private. Your script stays on your device, we don't require an account, and we don't run ads or third-party trackers. This page explains the details.

Last updated: July 11, 2026

The short version

  • We do not ask you to create an account or give us any personal information.
  • Your script and settings are stored only in your own browser, not on our servers.
  • We do not run advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking cookies.
  • Voice scroll uses your browser's built-in speech recognition. We never receive, record, or store your audio.

Information we collect

TeleprompterLab is a client-side tool that runs entirely in your browser. We do not operate accounts, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or payment information through the app. We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not collect it in the first place.

Data stored on your device

To make the tool useful, we save a few things in your browser's local storage. This data lives only on the device you are using and is never transmitted to us:

  • Your script text, so it is still there when you come back.
  • Your settings — speed, font size, width, line height, theme, mirror/flip, scroll mode, and similar preferences.
  • Your light/dark theme choice for the site.

You can remove this at any time using the Clear script and Reset settings controls in the app, or by clearing your browser's site data for teleprompterlab.com.

Voice scroll and your microphone

Voice scroll is optional. When you turn it on, TeleprompterLab uses your browser's built-in Web Speech API to follow along as you read. Depending on your browser, the audio may be processed on your device or sent to your browser vendor's speech service (for example, Google's service in Chrome) to be converted to text. That processing is governed by your browser vendor's own privacy policy.TeleprompterLab itself never receives, records, or stores your audio, and we only use the recognized words to move the script to the right place. Your microphone is released as soon as you pause or leave voice mode.

Cookies and analytics

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics or tracking scripts. The local storage described above is functional, not for tracking, and stays on your device.

Third-party resources

The site loads a web font (Geist) from Google Fonts. When your browser requests that font, Google may receive your IP address and standard request information, as it would for any resource loaded from Google's servers. This is used only to deliver the font. SeeGoogle's Privacy Policyfor details on how Google handles such requests.

Data security

The site is served over HTTPS. Because your script and settings never leave your device, the most important safeguard is the security of the device and browser you use.

Children's privacy

TeleprompterLab is a general-audience tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
